Priscilla was supposed to be released in theatres in October 2023, but later it was scheduled to release on 3rd November 2023 in theatres.
Elvis’ affair with Priscilla is one of the most contentious issues in his personal life. The film Priscilla is based on Priscilla Presley’s biography Elvis and Me, which chronicles her meeting Elvis, their marriage, and the events that led to their fall and divorce. Larry Peerce adapted the novel into the same-named Made For TV film. Elvis met Priscilla when she was fourteen years old, but their romance is presented as a modern-day fairy tale in pop culture, and their affection for each other is a story that has been told countless times.
Coppola has stated that the focus of the film will be primarily on Priscilla Presley, with Elvis almost playing a supporting role, and his professional career will have little significance in the film. At the same time, the number of red flags in their relationship, as well as its final fate, is the ideal mix for dramatic tension, ranging from highs to lows and capturing some real human moments between the larger-than-life characters.
Priscilla has already received wonderful reviews at film festivals, which is predictable given the project’s renown. A24 will distribute the picture theatrically.
