Mark Harmon Leaving NCIS

An Instagram post by official NCIS Instagram page confirmed that Mark Harmon is leaving NCIS, but he will continue to be related to NCIS as an executive producer.

Mark Harmon is best known for playing the lead role of Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS since 2003. After 18 years, Mark Harmon finally decided to leave the show. Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs exits NCIS season 19, but he is going to stay on NCIS as an executive producer.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs is a fictional character of the CBS TV series NCIS, who is leaving NCIS Season 19 after almost two decades. Mark Harmon planned to retire after the 18th season of NCIS, but main character leaving the show would mean CBS likely to end the show. NCIS has been renewed for Season 19 and Harmon will be seen in few episodes.

NCIS: Season 19, Episode 4, Great Wide Open which premiered on Monday 11 October 2021 ended with Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who decided not to return to job after nearly being killed. Leroy Jethro Gibbs decided to remain in Alaska. Gibbs tells Tim McGee, his partner that he is not going to return. Gibbs added that he is feeling a sense of peace in Alaska that he hadn’t felt since his wife and daughter died.

Harmon is listed as a regular cast member by CBS in the upcoming 18 October Episode Face the Strange.
