Kyle, Alex, Sid and Petey are young hackers who spend their time gaming and targeting online scammers. Looking for a bigger challenge, they decide to steal cryptocurrency from Don Heard. Their entry point is Lindsey’s social-media activity, which provides enough personal information to help them attack her father’s digital security.

The friends believe they have completed the perfect remote robbery. That assumption collapses when Lindsey calls Kyle. She knows what happened and forces them to use their skills against her father again. The movie turns the freedom of operating from a bedroom into a trap: every account, camera and message creates another point of exposure.

What does screenlife mean?

Lifehack is presented through digital screens rather than conventional camera coverage. Viewers follow events across laptops, phones, video calls, chats and websites. This format is commonly called screenlife. It allows the audience to watch the characters investigate, lie and make mistakes in real time while also noticing notifications or open tabs that the characters may miss.

The technique is especially suited to a hacking story because the action does not need to leave the devices where it begins. Producer Timur Bekmambetov has been closely associated with screenlife filmmaking through projects including Unfriended, Searching and Profile.

Is Lifehack a Netflix original?

No. Lifehack premiered at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in March 2025 and later opened in UK cinemas in May 2026. Netflix is providing its September 2026 streaming home in the United States. Calling it a Netflix release is accurate for its streaming availability, but it was not originally produced as a Netflix movie.
