Where The Crawdads Sing story pans two timelines- 1952, where young Kya has just been abandoned by her family and 1969, when a young man is found dead. As the movie progresses, you see the little threads connecting these events dramatically unravel. In Berkeley cove- a quiet fishing village, the ‘Marsh Girl’ is deemed unfit for society. She is barefoot and wild, having lived a life alone in the wilderness and immediately accused of the murder of Chase Andrews.
All Kya wants is human connection, someone that will never leave her. For years she survives isolation by exploring, learning from and and documenting the wild. She is nurtured by the marsh, and befriended by the gulls but she stills yearns love. In this coming of age tale, Kya’s experiences with two men threaten to change her world.. can she open herself up to a new life?
