The frightening documentary follows the Barnett family, who initially adopted what they thought was a 6-year-old Ukrainian orphan with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, a rare bone growth disease, according to Investigation Discovery.
However, the family dynamic was turned upside down when the Barnetts claimed Natalia was an adult impersonating a child with the purpose to cause harm to the family.
When Natalia was discovered living alone, an investigation into the Barnett family was begun, and both Michael and Kristine, Natalia’s carers, were arrested, according to Investigation Discovery.
